Les Notes ~ grading policies

You will be graded on homework, classwork, participation, quizzes, tests, and projects.
Your overall grade is calculated on the total points earned out of the total points possible. There are no weighted categories in this class — a point is a point, wherever it was earned.

Participation points are awarded regularly, but vary depending on what we are doing that week or month. Some weeks are heavy on partner work and conversation; others are heavier on reading and written work.

Le travail en retard (late work)

One day late = half credit.
Two days late = not accepted.

If you have extenuating circumstances — an excused absence, or a written IEP or 504 accommodation — write the reason at the top of your paper.

If you are having a hard time keeping up, come and talk to me before it becomes a problem.

Les rattrapages (make-up quizzes and tests)

Make-up quizzes and tests are permitted for excused absences only.

Upon returning to class, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to speak with me and schedule your make-up assessment. You may make it up during Wednesday homeroom, before or after school when that can be arranged, or — if you are an 8th grader — before 1st hour.

If you have missed only one day of class, the assessment must be completed within two school days of your return. Extended excused absences will be handled on an individual basis. Unexcused absences do not qualify for make-up quizzes or tests.

If you do not arrange and complete your make-up assessment within the required timeframe, you will receive a ZERO for that assessment.

Les absences

Check Canvas and MiStar every time you are absent.
You are responsible for all of the material we cover in class, whether or not you were here. Trade contact information with a classmate early in the year — it is the fastest way to find out what you missed. Any handouts you missed will be waiting for you in the file drawers at the back of the room or posted online.
